MEET CAPTAIN MIKE DOWNS

Born and raised in Southwest Florida, Captain Mike Downs is a third-generation Floridian and his family were fishermen of Marco Island long before a bridge connected it to the mainland. Today, Capt. Mike and his family live on the Peace River. These waters are his backyard and he knows how to get away from the crowds to find un-pressured fish. He spends countless hours on the water, honing his knowledge, determined to provide you with the best possible fishing experience.

Capt. Mike practices responsible stewardship of our natural resources to ensure healthy, thriving fisheries for future generations. He is a proud supporter of Captains For Clean Water, a grassroots nonprofit fighting to protect Florida’s waters. In partnership with the CAST for Kids Foundation, he and his wife, Alycia, brought C.A.S.T. for Kids Charlotte Harbor to Punta Gorda through which they shared their love for fishing with children in their community. The event allows kids to get out on the boat (many for the first time) with experienced captains and catch their first fish.

When not fishing, Capt. Mike can be found on Charlotte County's Marine fire boat, protecting citizens and waterways. Serving as a Marine Operations Firefighter-Paramedic, safety is his number one priority. Capt. Mike is a veteran boat captain who operates at the highest level of boater etiquette and ensures all passengers feel safe and comfortable while aboard his vessel.

Capt. Mike proudly offers special rates for First Responders and Military. Please inquire when booking.
